I believe in coincidences. Coincidences happen every day. But I don't trust coincidences.

"Of all the stories you have told me, which ones were true?"
"My dear Doctor, they are all true."
"Even the lies?"
"Especially the lies".

-A stich in time.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Like the charachter of Elim Garak, I feel that humans are incapable of lying. And more so, I believe and wish to hear more lies than truth. Because, it is in these lies that the purest truth exist. When people talk about real events, and real things and what really happened, than they aren't telling you anything. But when they start to lie, things gets interesting. You learn a higher form for truth. That is you learn the very motive behind the lie, and the truth itself along the way. Amen!

"Early to rise, early to bed, makes a man healthy, wealthy and dead." -- Terry Pratchett.

Many try to fit themselves into a mold. Conformity, Mama's boy, adorable girl, and so on. But when have they done different that others haven't already? For us rebels, this is something we find hard to understand. To us they are already dead. Terry puts this pretty nicely in the above qoute.

Here is one more from the same novel. If you like it go get his book. You won't regret it. Enjoy.

"Many have seen Topaxci, God of the Red Mushroom, and they earn the name of shaman," he said. Some have seen Skelde, spirit of the smoke, and they are called sorcerers. A few have been privileged to see Umcherrel, the soul of the forest, and they are known as spirit masters. But none have seen a box with hundreds of legs that looked at them without eyes, and they are known as idio--" The interruption was caused by a sudden screaming noise and a flurry of snow and sparks that blew the fire across the dark hut; there was a brief blurred vision and then the opposite wall was blasted aside and the apparition vanished. There was a long silence. Then a slightly shorter silence. Then the old shaman said carefully, "You didn't just see two men go through upside down on a broomstick, shouting and screaming at each other, did you?" The boy looked at him levelly. "Certainly not," he said. The old man heaved a sigh of relief. "Thank goodness for that," he said. "Neither did I."

Terry Pratchett, "The Light Fantastic"

If you are a Harry Potter fan and like Lord of the Rings too, than Terry Pratchett books are a must read. Mean while head over here for some choice quotes, all from "The Light Fantastic".

If you want some cool nice music to listen, try "The Reason" by Hoobastank. Go get it. This is different from Celine Dions "The Reason". (Thanks to Thumblina for introducing me to Hoobastank).

The Forum Master.

Most my online life is spent browsing forums, posting here and there and reading newsgroups. So many accounts to remember, usernames, passwords, site links, etc. This led me to think, why can't there be a single site which will let us post on our topic of choice on the most popular forum for the given topic.?

The site should use web scrapping technics. More write up on this latter, too busy bya.

Online Prayers

While surfing over to a Desi techies site I stumbled over a shiv pooja writtne in flash. Was pretty cool, the mantra was playing and I could offer milk, ghee, flowers, inches sticks, coconuts, and even blow a shank! This led me to think that there could be other online prayer sites. And there was indeed others! Loads of them, whether you are Hindu, Budhist, Christian, or even Muslims, the online world has much to offer. If you want to do prayers from the gosple head over here.

The Presence of God

I reflect for a moment on God's presence around me and in me.
Creator of the universe, the sun and the moon, the earth,
every molecule, every atom, everything that is:
God is in every beat of my heart. God is with me, now.

Raving

These two days I have been so busy. Looks as if my new direction is taking me to the right places. Sometimes I wonder if I too have a gaurdian angel watching over me. When ever I feel like getting somehing done, it always eems to work out the way I want it no matter how imposible it seems. Ironically this aint' true about my romantic life. Duh! Who needs romance when I have my computer! [shameless plug of a pathetic lamer]

Yeah I am busy. Sleept at 2 and waked up at 9. With less than 7 hours of sleep, I dont' know how I am going to manage this. For a sleep hog, and a 'niend pyarae' like me this is insane. But it's cool learning so much in so short a time. :). Ravi out.

Open Source Solutions for the enterprise

I am in search of a list of open source software (non OS functions) that can be commercialised, which would be viable for developoing countries. On the right hand links section a new category would appear for such software. Currently my list goes like this:
Plone/Zope/Python
*Nuke/osCommerce/
phpGroupware

Will continually update this piece in the future. Expect to see changes.

Lonely

I feel so eerily lonely today, secluded. For the first time in my life I have been thinking seriously about whom I am and what I want to do in my life. Between yesterday and today I have changed so much and lost so much. One thing for sure, I am not going to look back. If any blogger friends know of a way a person can recover from lonely ness please mail me.

'Thingyan' was great

New Year! Happy new year. No, I am not drunk. Today marks the beginning of the year 1366, Myanmar Era. We celebrated this with a lot of religious activities such as doing merits, meditating, service to the old and the holy. But, what everyone would identify the approach of the New Year, is the Water Festival.

I was hopping between Vasakhi celebration and mandat squatting. Trying to dance, drink and drool over all the girls that come around in their latest attitudes for fashion. It’s not unusual to see some of them clad in their skimpiest dress trying to look cool, while boyfriends or brothers would be having a hard time covering them up! Damn! Why do they even bother? Personally I think they should never dress like that during a highly public and crowded festival, and if they did their peers should respect their sense of fashion and not make fools of themselves and the person they are protecting. Tell about decency before leaving home, not do mock shows of 'covering up'. Silly

Today, each district does a parate recital to bring auspiciousness and to drive away the evil. The end of the ceremony is marked with banging of things in the house to create a noise which hopefully the devil can’t bear, and would runway out of fear. I enjoyed it. If you would like to look back and enjoy photo gallery and video footage of Thingyan 2004 head over to Online Myanmar.

Linux on the Desktop

It has been more than a month since I have started to become a convert. I am now a Gnome fan and seems to indentify myself with the gnome crowd/geeks rather than the KDE fellas. A sign that I am getting old? Not really, if you consider all the noise gnome have been making on Desktop Linux and the direction they are heading.

First we have Mono/GTK#, which is .Net on linux, and we have all the usability/accessibilty features that are popping up in gnome. We have storage (Seth's answer to Win-FS), project utopia, and lately the Novell/Ximian/SuSE merger. Desktop Linux is now unstopable.

10 things they should teach us in school, but never did

I just read a nice piece that talks about what we never learned at high school or even university. These are ten things anyone should understand. For long I have been trying to say something like this but Micheal says it best, and since this comes from the worlds best architect/writer/teacher it is well worth more than a read. Hope over to The Top 10 Things They Never Taught Me in Design School

It would apply to any field/career that we may choose. I always felt that being able to write, talk or be creative is nothing to be proud of. In essence as long as we are humans capable of reading shakesphere and dicussing the latest tech gadgets, we are good enough. But success is more than creativity. The six thinking hats would be useless with the six doing hats. I will write about these hats when I have some more free time. Cheers.
